How effective is Cosequin Equine powder?

have a Quarter horse gelding that is pretty well crippled with navicular and arthritis. He has an advanced corrective shoe that makes a world of difference, but if we get a lot of rain and he’s in deep mud, goes to see the farrier, etc. he is in terrible pain and can hardly walk for a few days. I avoid Bute unless there’s no other alternative, then he has it for a few days. He is on Glucosamine and MSM supplements, but I’d like to try something more aggressive. I’m seriously considering Cosequin Equine powder. Does anybody have any success stories of that? What kind of horses is it effective on?

Apparently (according to my vet, trainer and other sources) Cosequin ASU is the only affective joint suppliment out there. Which is why it’s so dang expensive..
