Manure Problem with my horse!!?
I have been having an ongoing problem with my draft/QH cross’s loose stool. It used to look like a cow patty, incredibly watery. I wormed him early, called my vet who told me to put him on a probiotic for 30 days, and had his teeth done again. the 30 day supply of probiotic just ended yesterday…i did see some improvement (now its just a little mushy, and there are some balls that form) is this normal enough so i dont have to worry about him? im waiting for my vet to call me back …lol so it could be a while.
also, i want to start adding rice bran oil or canola oil or something to add some extra fat to his diet, and i know they can have some lubricating effects! is this ok to do with a horse that has mushy manure?
It doesn’t sound like you have a clear idea of why the horse’s stools are mushy. It sounds like there is some improvement, but not completely normal stools yet. Are you planning to continue the probiotics? Maybe another round would be good. I think the vet should decide on adding anything to the diet.
